In a bid to keep a breast with the changing trends in the education sector, Rays of Grace Junior School, led by the school head teacher Gsangayi Gerald Bruno, spent Thursday 4th and Friday 5th September 2025 undergoing staff capacity building as part of their continuous professional development.
The two day continuing professional development (CDP) training of teaching and non-teaching staff was facilitated by education consultants, Patrick Kaboyo and policy enthusiastic, researcher, and trained advocate Brighton Abaho
“We found the staff willing to learn, and throughout the two days, they were all attentive and interactive, which was a plus. We hope to work closely with the administration to see that all the areas tackled in the workshop are implemented since they include short-term, medium, and long-term”. Said Brighton Abaho, one of the facilitators.
“The training has been intensive. It has been a two days hands-on workshop cutting across teaching and no-teaching staff. It has been successful because the topics covered are the very much framework with which the school operates, and they are very relevant”.
“I found it very interesting because we needed it so that we could catch up with the rest of the world in terms of service provision and performance in and out of class as a school and as the headteacher, I will be in position to encourage my team to implement since we are going to put up a structure to ensure that the exercise wasn’t a wastage of time”. The overall objective of the engagement was to acquire more knowledge and understanding of the institutional, legal, of the Ministry of Education and Sports and policy framework and get updated.
Also, the workshop was aimed at enhancing teaching and non-teaching staff competence on key concepts and insights in the management of an education institution of the 21st century.
To ascertain staff competence and skill sets required for running a school in a competitive environment.
Lastly, to foster acquisition of knowledge to transformative education policies, curriculum, plans, professionalism, service provision, and ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of Rays of Grace education mandate.
Rays of Grace Junior School is celebrating 10 years of excellence, and the grand event will be held on Saturday, 27th September 2025, at the school playground starting at 10 AM with a prayer
