Rays of Grace Academy showed great character and determination as they came from a goal down to secure a hard-fought victory over Buddo Soccer Academy in an exciting Matchday 3 encounter.
The game, played on Sunday 12th April 2026 at Mt. St. Henry Mukono, lived up to expectations as both sides battled with intensity and purpose from the first whistle.
Buddo Soccer Academy took the lead at the half-hour mark through Joshua Ssematta, who produced a brilliant finish from the left wing, swerving past goalkeeper Joel Ssenteza to give his side the advantage.
However, Rays of Grace Academy responded quickly. Just eight minutes later, after sustained high pressing, the Njeru-based side found their equalizer through target man Ivan Kiganda, who scored in similar fashion to Buddo’s opener, bringing the game level before halftime.
The second half saw Rays of Grace come out with renewed energy. Ten minutes after the restart, captain Sumaku Mutawakali calmly converted from the penalty spot following a handball by a Buddo defender, completing the turnaround for his team.
Rays of Grace Academy continued to dominate proceedings and created several chances to extend their lead, but they were unable to capitalize, leaving the scoreline at 2-1.
Despite the missed opportunities, the comeback victory marks an important milestone for the team. The win secures their second victory of the season from three matches played, taking their tally to 7 points and maintaining their position in 3rd place on the league table.
Rays of Grace Academy will now turn their attention to their next fixture, where they are set to face Ebenezer Soccer Academy on Saturday 18th April at St. Mary’s Boarding School, Kitende.
With momentum on their side, the team will be aiming to build on this impressive performance and continue their strong start to the season.
